Oceania Cruises.
Oceania Cruises was formed in 2002 by luxury cruise industry veterans Frank Del Rio and Joseph Watters. Previously, Del Rio was a senior executive and CEO of Renaissance Cruises and Watters most recently held the position of President of Crystal Cruises and prior to that, President of Royal Viking Line and President of Princess Cruises.
Oceania Cruises’ flagship, MS Regatta was launched in mid-2003 and sailed her maiden voyage on July 5th of that year. Oceania Cruises’ second vessel, MS Insignia, was introduced in April 2004, concurrent with the acquisition of its third vessel, MS Nautica. Nautica debuted in November, 2005.
Oceania Cruises has quickly been recognized by sophisticated travelers and industry experts alike for its extraordinary cuisine, outstanding service, luxurious ships and destination-rich itineraries. Oceania Cruises quickly established itself as an industry leader and innovator with the 684-guest Regatta, Insignia, and Nautica. Oceania Cruises has received numerous accolades from discerning travelers and industry experts alike. Oceania Cruises was voted “Readers’ Favorite” by the readers of Departures, the official publication for American Express Platinum and Centurion Card members; in Travel + Leisure Magazine’s “World’s Best Awards”, Oceania Cruises has consistently been rated as one of the top cruise lines in the large-ship category, ahead of the industry’s leading premium brands and on the heels of the most respected luxury lines; and most recently, Oceania Cruises ranked among the top 5 large ship cruise lines in Conde Nast Traveler’s annual Readers’ Choice Awards.
